Loden Wool Car Coat

The coat for the first cold, wet week of the year. Our car coat is cut from Tyrolean loden that is woven loosely, boiled until it shrinks by a third and brushed so every fibre lies one way, which is why rain beads and rolls off before it can soak in.

A car-coat length clears the knee when you sit and moves easily on a bike. The placket is hidden, the side-entry pockets are deep enough for gloves, and the cupro lining slides over knitwear without catching.

Brush it after wear, air it rather than washing it, and it will look better in its fifth winter than its first. Like every Apple & Ivey coat, it is repaired free for life.
